A few words to explain my creations to you
Those of you who have followed me since the beginning already know that in each of my descriptions they can find the intellectual link which preceded the birth of all my jewellery.
This is because of two things:
1) I have always wanted to understand the “why” of everything! So when I discover a work of art whether it is literature, painting or other, I need to know why its author created it!! I feel that it is only then that I want to possess it adding to it what ever my imagination dictates.
I therefore thought that you were like me, and it is why, from the beginning of my adventure, I always tried to explain carefully the context and the meaning of each of my necklaces!
2) It is also a way to protect and justify my work!
I take inspiration from all the things which mean that I am alive: My feelings, my emotions, my memories….And also from my knowledge of the world and of the Art which I will always cultivate! There is so much to learn……..
So…Very often you will find in my necklaces a testimony for a nation, an era, a film, a painting or a book…….
I love to do this kind of work. I call it a translation. I interpret pictures or words with beads! Your “Pierre de rosette” was therefore in my descriptions, to help you to be at my side and share my vision.
The artists which inspire me the most often are: Gustave Moreau for the orient, Frida Kahio for the pure emotions and Le Douanier Rousseau for his poetry etc.
More than necklaces they are bridges between you and me! Between the past and present! Between nations. Mixing all traditions intimately.
I have always created unique models. For these I use new, vintage and antic material; to give Ying and Yang. I find them all around the world, often asking the craftsmen to do me the honour to include their work as part of my creations with their beads and their pendants.
CHINESE PORTRAIT:
If I was a plant? I would be a bamboo! For it apparent rigidity and its neat conformation (because raised by granddads who were police men !!!!!
It leaves its marks! Ah! Ah!) and because it can bend without breaking!....I chose it to decorate my garden.
If I was a house? I would be a troglodyte house! For the primitive side, simple and permanent! Have you visited such a house? It is fantastic! The temperature is pleasant and constant all year around.
If I was an animal? I would most certainly be an ornithorynque! I always loved this animal ! Adding simplicity and shyness to a passion for shrimps!
If I was a stone? I would be fools gold! I am a small Magpie who loves all that shines without worrying whether or not it is precious!
If I was a quotation? “Nothing gets lost, nothing is created and everything changes”
Quote from Lavoisier who got it himself from Anaxagore de Clamozènes! Because even if I create unique pieces of jewellery, their elements already existed, I am like a plastic surgeon who rearrange the real thing.
At 40, I am very much influenced by the seventies having lived during that era! I like to see the seventies appear through my work!
If I was a machine? I would be a flipper in the snow!....Imagine a flipper without its glass cover, covered with small snow flakes……..
You pull the trigger and the little dark metal ball starts to roll in all directions getting coated with layers of ice little by little, finally stopping when it has become too thick.
Well, in my mind, it is the same!!!!!!
It is enough for a small idea to escape and it spins very fast getting bigger and stronger until it is perfect (for me!)
I could also compare it to the miracle of the small grain of sand which becomes a pearl in the oyster, and which, once complete, you could pick very gently and take out of the darkness and the depths of the sea into the light, like a strong muscled deep sea diver! But this image is a bit too pretentious and it is not my goal!
